FREE Reads
For simplicity's sake, I decided to collect all my free reads, that are scattered throughout this website, and create a separate page devoted solely to books, stories, teasers, trailers, etc. Basically anything that's not available for purchase but still worth a glance...well, in my opinion, anyway. Please note that some of these stories might only be available if you buy another book. Most of the rest do require you to sign up for either my newsletter or my reader group
I've separated them by series because that seemed A) neater than a random hodge podge of books B) less chaotic than attempting to list them alphabetically...the series are listed alphabetically, in most cases, and that's troublesome enough; and C) prettier than simply chucking new ones at the bottom from time to time.
It's important to note that, in some cases, stories that appear here now will eventually be fleshed out, extended, or otherwise incorporated into longer books. At which point, that freebie might cease to exist in its current form. So. Enjoy them while they're here!
Oh! and one last note while we're on the subject of FREE Reads (because I'm all about giving people options). I do have an ARC page for anyone willing to trade timely reviews in exchange for reading new and/or as yet unpublished books.

Gingerbread Kisses
I was busy writing Christmas Angel when I was asked to write a piece of holiday-themed flash fiction using the prompts: lamppost, gingerbread, stockings. And this is what came out. It's a flashback scene (ten years earlier) showing the heroes moving from friends to lovers during their first Christmas together. It's short and sweet and the cover is just fun!

I originally wrote this short story for the Nine Naughty Novelists' Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. It's short—just two scenes--about Mike and Claire's (Let Me Count the Ways) first Christmas together. I always wondered how their weekend might have turned out. Did it live up to their expectations? Were all their fantasies fulfilled? This year I got to explore the answer when I wrote Christmasing With You for the Let's Get Naughty anthology.

Going Back to Oberon
A Very Short Story
This story started out as a feature on Cabin Goddess’s “Fourth Wall Friday” blog; in which authors were invited to put themselves into a scene where they interacted with their characters. I had a great deal of fun imagining myself returning to the scene of my very first series. It started me thinking about all the stories I hadn't told yet. And it really motivated me to start getting some of those ideas out there.

A Very Short Story
It was the year of the rabbit, and someone had the brilliant idea to get a bunch of authors together and have them write rabbit-themed short stories in celebration of the event.
Everyone who signed up to participate received a randomly generated set of three characters; three adjectives with which to describe said characters; a setting; an opening line; and a line of dialogue that had to be worked into the story somewhere.
My characters were Doc, a drunk veterinarian; Jim, an anxious bounty hunter; and Candy, a picky stripper. My setting was a Hollywood Premier party. And my line of dialogue was, “Why don’t you take off your shirt?”
